Join us for a day in nature at West Bend’s accessible nature center. Blue Lotus is a 64-acre nature retreat in West Bend, Wis., that strives to make nature accessible for all who need it. This Outdoor Recreation Day will happen rain or shine.

Outdoor Fun: Music garden, hiking trails, games, hammocks, accessible swings, adaptive bikes and more.
Labyrinth: Wildflower labyrinth to meditate, pray, or enjoy a low sensory quiet zone.
Swings: Four different types of swings to fit many different types of bodies. The young and young at heart can enjoy a carefree day swinging through the air!
All-Terrain Wheelchair: Explore the grounds like you never have before in the "Mars Rover" All-Terrain Wheelchair. Handles grass, hills, dirt paths and bumpy roads with ease.
Wispact Ability Corner: Need assistance exploring the grounds? Check out hiking poles, walking sticks, rollators, transfer chairs, sensory backpacks, or more from our new Ability Corner.
Fishing or Fish Feeding: An ADA-accessible pier with guardrails, fishing poles with bait and tackle, benches and chairs to just enjoy the view.
Boating: Single and double kayaks with paddles, canoes with oars, and pedal boats. We have life jackets for all ages and sizes.
Pavilion: Air conditioned. Accommodates 42 seated or 80 standing with eight rectangle tables, 50 chairs, Wi-Fi Internet, and presentation screen. Board games, puzzles and a variety of arts and crafts supplies
Please plan on bringing: Bug spray, sunscreen, hats, snacks and picnic blanket.
SBWIS will provide bottled water, fruit, vegetables, Rice Krispie treats and lunchmeat, cheese and sliced rolls. There is an enclosed, air conditioned area available for lunch time or for breaks.
Parking: There is accessible parking space for approximately 8-12 cars, with plenty of general parking.
Nursing assistance will NOT be available. First aid kits will be available. There are two ADA bathrooms on site.
Volunteer assistance will be provided for fishing equipment, paddling, water safety and general information about the site. To use the adaptive kayaks, physical assistance to transfer from your wheelchair into the kayak will NOT be provided.
Spina Bifida Wisconsin is grateful to have the funding to host this event for families to connect and enjoy important peer support from others in the spina bifida community.
Join us on Saturday May 23 at 10am-11:30am at BEAMING Equine Assisted Services in Neenah for a horse activity social.
This visit will include a tour, ground-based equine-assisted sessions, interactive activities, and hands-on experiences designed to be engaging, supportive, and fun for all participants.
To ensure everyone’s safety, liability waivers must be completed for each individual who will be on site, including participants, caregivers and other visitors. SBWIS staff will email a liability form after receiving your registration form. The liability form must be returned in order to participate.
Individuals with spina bifida, no matter the age, are welcome to attend, along with caregivers and siblings. An adult must be present for those under 18.

The Shaw Family Playground is located within Evergreen Park and is accessible at 2614 Pine Grove Avenue, Sheboygan. The playground came about due to a local spina bifida family seeing the need for an accessible playground. Read more here.

Join SBWIS for an adventure! Indoor adaptive rock climbing is a great opportunity in our area for staying active throughout the winter. The volunteers assisting climbers are highly trained, making this a fun and very safe experience. This event is appropriate for ages 4 and older, any level of mobility and is FREE to SBWIS members.
Location — Adventure Rock, 21250 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, WI 53072.
Date: Sunday March 22 from 3-6pm.
Weight limit of 200 pounds.

Dawgz At Work will be providing two hypoallergenic therapy dogs for children and youth alike to pet and play with. Dawgs at Work specializes in training exceptional mobility and psychological service dogs, therapy dogs, and emotional support dogs.
Possibility Playground’s thoughtful design integrates play experiences for children with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities.
SBWIS will provide bottled water.
